If you’re a job seeker aged 17 – 24 you can gain work experience in a local business by taking part in an internship placement for between 4 and 12 weeks. An internship is an opportunity to show an employer what you can do and how you fit into thei
r business. Internships are unpaid by the business, instead you will receive an extra $200 a fortnight on top of your income support payment.

Australian Government Employer Program
Receive up to $10,000 when you hire a job seeker
You can host an internship placement in your business for between 4 and 12 weeks. An internship can help you find out if a young person is the right fit for your business. You will receive a payment of $1000 to help with the costs of hosting an intern and the intern is covered by insurance purchased by the Australian Government. Interns are unpaid by your business.
